about

The songs on the record take place around different bodies of water, including the shores of Catalina off the coast of California, which Bay used to visit as a kid. The small island provided a magical backdrop to his childhood, with creatures like roaming buffalo and bright orange fish that could be seen clearly from the dock. Catalina is also where Bay reportedly learned about kissing.

"Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with bodies of water and I will swim at any chance," says Bay. "I will try to talk you into swimming with me, and you will say, 'No way, it's freezing.' Then I will do anything it takes to get you to follow me into the water."

Track Name: River
Holy Holy river, Holy Holy land

Out of the attic and into the cold bright morning
Into the morning my people are raging
They’re leaping and loving all over the cold dark evening
Out on the water my people are singing

Holy Holy river, Holy Holy land

Money money money money money money money money money money New York

Money money money money money money money money money money ahhh

Hit me like a mama, love me like a mama, cut me from the city, New York
BQE, MTA, LIE now we’re going to the country ahhh

Wake me up again, because we’re already home
Wake us up again Lord I know that we’re already home
And I saw the wings of the wild ones
And I caught the teeth of the tired ones
And I felt the coats of the soft ones
And then I was them and all of them were me

Follow us down to the banks of the Santeria
Move like the breath, like the death of our pining
Because we have no thoughts on the banks of the Santeria
And out on the water my people are praying

Holy Holy river, Holy Holy land
